If we do not have any available puppies or just don't have what you are looking for, please visit the links below for other reputable breeders in the Chattanooga area.  We would rather see you buy a good puppy from our competitors than to have you buy a bad puppy from someone just looking to make a quick buck!  Many German Shepherd breeders do not have their dogs evaluated for hip dysplasia and keep breeding poor quality dogs.  These poor quality dogs may be cheaper as a puppy, but they will cost you thousands of dollars in veterinarian bills and leave you heart broken.  Always ask you breeders for the dam and sires hip scores and get references from recent buyers.

Mountainside Shepherd Health Warranty

Mountainside Shepherd offers a two year health warranty from the date of purchase against the following abnormalities:

Hip Dysplasia:  Hip dysplasia may be caused by genetic and environmental effects such as poor nutrition, physical abuse and extreme working conditions.  At Mountainside Shepherd, our breeding stock has been PennHip certified to have a DI of less than 0.40 or an OFA Good and have no signs of DJD to try and eliminate the genetic portion of hip dysplasia. It is the buyer’s responsibility to feed the puppy a premium large breed puppy food such as Science Diet or Eukanuba and maintain receipts for proof of purchase for one full year. If the buyer desires to have the puppy neutered, the buyer must not have the procedure done before the puppy is 14 months old.  If the puppy is neutered before they are 14 months, it will void this warranty.  It is the buyer’s responsibility to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian and certified by PennHip (puppy must be at least six months old) to have a DI greater than 0.45 or certified by OFA (puppy must be at least two years old) and determined to have rated less than “fair”, Mountainside Shepherd will refund the original purchase price of the puppy or offer a replacement puppy at the buyer’s discretion.  The buyer may keep the original puppy if proof is shown to Mountainside Shepherd that the puppy has been spayed/neutered.  The buyer must submit a copy of the OFA or PennHip reports to Mountainside Shepherd before any refund is executed.

Reproductive Abnormalities:  It is the buyer’s responsibility to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian, and if the veterinarian determines that the puppy has genetic defects that prohibit the puppy from producing offspring, Mountainside Shepherd will refund the original purchase price of the puppy or offer a replacement puppy at the buyer’s discretion.  The buyer may keep the original puppy if proof is shown to Mountainside Shepherd that the puppy has been spayed/neutered.  The buyer must submit a copy of the licensed veterinarian reports to Mountainside Shepherd before any refund is executed.

Other Medical Abnormalities:  Other medical abnormalities not mentioned above will be evaluated by Mountainside Shepherd on a “case by case” basis to determine if a partial or full replacement price or puppy is issued.  All medical documentation on the abnormality obtained by the buyer should be submitted to Mountainside Shepherd for review.  Refund or replacement will be at the sole discretion of Mountainside Shepherd for the “other medical abnormality” case, but it is our intent that every buyer will have a healthy puppy.
